Park Advice from the Experts
With the growing popularity of indoor toys and games getting kids outdoors into nature is now more important than ever! If you think about it, being outside is a great way to stimulate all our senses, get our brain to be more active and exercise our bodies. Yet is is also a great way to focus our attention and calm our brain from the daily overload of sounds and lights we seem to be constantly exposed to.
If you can try to get outdoors with your kids every day- even if only for a short period of time. If you prefer structured activities you can visit your nearby park. In Newark, White Clay Creek State Park offers weekday and weekend programs for adults, families and kids. Winter and summer camps are available. Lums Pond State Park in Bear De also offers programs including a monthly Green Hour program, where families participate in an hour long outdoor program.
